“X” is the latest album from Agnes Monica, popularly known as Agnez Mo, and this is her first international album after it’s long-delayed, because she needs to prepare it well and wants to make it perfect. It was released on October 10th 2017 with “Long as I get paid” as her first single.
She worked with an American producer, Danja in this album, who is best known for his work with Timbaland, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. No wonder, if “X” will remind us with urban-pop beats that dominated America’s Billboard charts in the mid-to-late 2000s.
There are 10 songs in this album and to be honest I didn’t expect the sound from it will totally be different with any other Agnez Mo’s songs before : yes, she has changed (a lot) and I’m quite sure she’s heading into the right way. She’s trying to level up her skill (dance and vocal) and music production, and you can see the result in “X”, which is surprisingly good, like really good.
1. Million Dollar Lover
That beat tho! As an opening track, this one will give you goosebumps.
2. Long As I get Paid
First time I heard this song, I didn’t like it, I hated it instead. But, when I tried to give it another chance, I do loved it : the auto-tune, the sick beat and the visual from the music video succeeded to steal my heart.
I was hooked when I’m listening to this song for the first time. Even though there is no ballad song in this album, but “Sorry” will definitely make you love Agnez even more. Her vocal is just perfect!
4. Level Up
This song is another level from her : R n b song with dope beat.
5. Wanna be loved
I just wanna dance following the beat from this song when I heard it for the first time.
The bass and rhythm from this song is everything! And don’t forget about her vocal technique that will leave you in awe.
Another catchy song with sick beat and dope vocal!
8. Damn I love you
A combination between rhythm and a little bit reggae will make you smile and won’t be able to resist your body to dance.
9. Beautiful Mistake
It simply is my favorite song from this album! It’s catchy, cute, and reminds me of pop/RnB songs from the 80s.
10. Get What You give
As the last song from this album, Agnez will give her signature style with her best vocal combine with the sick beat!
Everyone knows that Agnez is so powerful with ballad songs : her soprano voice is just perfect for that kinda song, that’s why most of her fans (including me) are feeling a little bit disappointed when they knew that she’s not putting (at least) one ballad song in this album.
Overall, “X” should still be appreciated, especially with perfect music production and her mature vocal here, people around the world must give her a chance to shine. And I really hope “X” will get a warm welcome from people around the world.
Good luck, Kak Nez! J
